Introduction

Beginning on Saturday August 22nd, you will spend 3 months making a deliberate effort to improve your health and well-being through diet and exercise.  On this day, you will meet with your fitness coach and not only discuss your diet, but also get measurements done on various areas of your body and get your body fat percentage calculated.

Diet Evaluation

In order to evaluate your diet, your fitness coach will need from you a 3-Day Food Journal.  To write one, pick any 3 consecutive days out of the week and write everything you eat on each day and at what time you ate it.  You can be as detailed as you want, but only a basic outline is needed.  Once it is finished, either hand it to your coach at the gym or email it to him anytime before Saturday, August 22nd so that he has sufficient time to review it (email listed below).  If you must hand it to him on that Saturday that is fine, but his analysis will not be as complete.  PLEASE BE HONEST WITH THIS JOURNAL.  IF YOU ARE NOT HONEST THEN IT WILL NOT HELP YOU.

Measurements

Circumference measurements will be taken using measuring tape on various troublesome locations such as the waist and hips.  Other smaller areas such as the arms and legs will be measured as well.  There are two ways to measure body fat percentage... with a non-intrusive electrical scanner (don't worry it doesn't hurt) or with calipers.  The calipers are more accurate, but if you don't want to be pinched, you are more than welcome to use the scanner instead.  Be sure to wear a t-shirt/tank top and shorts so that no areas are obstructed.  WEIGHT WILL NOT BE MEASURED BECAUSE IT IS A POOR INDICATOR OF LEAN BODY MASS VS FAT MASS.  THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY INTERESTED IN YOUR BODY COMPOSITION.

When and Where

The first meeting will be on Saturday, August 22nd at Crossfit Denton County.  Each individual who signs up will get a 30-minute time slot, which will be plenty of time to do the two things mentioned above (your fitness coach will discuss the exact time with you through email or in person; expect it to be in the morning and early afternoon).  If you can't meet on this day, talk to your coach and another time can be scheduled.  Be sure not to eat a big meal or exercise beforehand, as these can obscure the measurements.

There will also be 3 subsequent meetings.  On Saturday, September 26th, Saturday, October 24th and lastly on Saturday, November 21st (just in time for Thanksgiving!).  Your measurements will only be taken at the beginning and the end, with diet evaluations occurring in September and October. 

Registration

The price of this program is $60/person.  If you sign up with a friend it will be $50/person, because success rates increase exponentially when you have someone to keep you accountable.

Also, be sure to have a ready email address because updates, reminders and tips on diet/exercise will be sent out periodically through email.

**Please note:  If you are over 45 years of age, you should consult your physician before you begin any exercise program.  Also, if you have been diagnosed with any type of metabolic disorder (such as diabetes) only a registered dietician can evaluate your diet.
